Asian Heritage Month: Fordson, Faith, Fasting, Football and American Eid

April 3 at 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
| Room N-451, 199 Chambers St.

Celebrate Asian Heritage Month
Directed by Rashid Ghazi, Fordson, Faith, Fasting, Football is a 2011 documentary that follows a predominately Arab-American high school football team from Dearborn, Michigan during the last ten days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and unearths the story of a community desperately holding onto its Islamic faith while struggling to gain acceptance in post 9-11 America.

A 2021 short film written and directed by Aqsa Altaf, American Eid tells the story of 9-year-old Ameena, who has just immigrated with her family from Pakistan. Her first American Eid is disappointing compared to the colorful festivities back home with her family and friends. Homesick and heartbroken, she goes on a mission to make Eid a public-school holiday, and in the process, reconnects with her older sister, and embraces her new home, while her new home embraces her.

Students receive co-curricular transcript credit (CCT) for participation at any two or more Asian Heritage Month events.
