Asian Heritage Month: Can You Haiku Contest
BMCC’s 14th Annual Haiku Contest is here!
Contest Rules
The contest is open to ALL BMCC students, faculty and staff.
- Each haiku you submit must contain the word “end”.
- Each haiku must be original.
- Poems must conform to the haiku format of 5-7-5 syllables.*
- You are welcome to submit more than one haiku.
The deadline for submissions is Monday 4/15/2019 11:59 a.m.
Submit your haiku poems.
Winners will be announced by Tuesday 4/16/2019 before 5:00 p.m.
Prizes
Winners will receive a $25 Barnes and Noble Gift Card
and…
a dinner ticket to the BMCC Annual Asian Heritage Dinner on Thursday 4/18/2019
About Haiku*
Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku are short poems, consisting of 17 words. The first line has 5 words, the second line 7 and the third 5. Learn more about haiku poems and how to write them.
