AI Innovation Challenge for Social Good will be on Friday, November 1 from 9 a.m.–10 p.m. and Saturday, November 2 from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
All BMCC students are welcome.
This is an excellent opportunity for BMCC students to learn about AI, work on projects they feel passionate about, gain relevant skills, and build their portfolio which they can showcase to their future employers. The AI Innovation Challenge is a large-scale experiential learning event which prompts BMCC students to work collaboratively in teams to innovate projects which apply AI to address logistical, social, and other challenges on campus, in the community, and globally. Students are empowered to be agents of change by learning about and incorporating AI in projects that address issues related a project themes of their choice: Zero Hunger, Environmental Sustainability, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Accessible Education, Health & Wellness, Housing, New Student Community, Diversity in STEM, or Misinformation and Disinformation.
Teams will spend two days formulating and finalizing ideas and applying AI to team projects which include writing programming code, designing websites, and creating PowerPoint and video presentations. Industry professionals from JPMorgan, Google, IBM amongst others from tech companies have volunteered to provide project mentoring, feedback, and also take part in career panels.
The event serves as an informal learning experience that further prepares students for the workforce by lowering the barrier to STEM and AI literacy and adoption by providing a learning environment where students from diverse backgrounds can create solutions and have the opportunity to develop teamwork, leadership, and subject-matter competence in real-world problems at BMCC.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner for registered teams will be provided.
Must RSVP to attend.
