The Purple Room

In the Purple Room young 2 year old children learn through play. They engage with their peers and teachers in a safe loving environment.

Child-Centered Classroom

The classroom is children-centered so all of the materials are on low shelves so that the children can engage freely. There are various learning centers in the classroom, Blocks, Dramatic Play, Library, Science and Discovery, Manipulatives, and Art). At the beginning of the semester, the children explore their class and are encouraged to interact with their peers and teachers as they adjust to their new surroundings.

Children’s Interests Guide Their Activities

The learning experiences are geared towards the children’s interest. The children are encouraged to engage in Circle Time where they help choose the songs that are sung, talk about their feelings, count friends, and listen to stories just to name a few. Most importantly, in the Purple Room we seize the teachable moments and help the children learn valuable social and self-help skills through our daily routines.

When you ask me what I’ve done at school today,
and I say, “I just played.” Please don’t misunderstand me.
For, you see, I’m learning as I play.
I’m learning to enjoy and be successful in my work.
I’m preparing for tomorrow.
Today, I am a child and my work is play.
