How to Apply
To submit a complete application, students must:

- Download an unofficial transcript and upload the document into the folder within the program’s application.
- Send the Recommendation Form to TWO recommenders (refer to program application document for form link)
- At least one recommendation must be from a professor. The second may be from an academic advisor or college administrator with whom the student has worked closely.
Application Tip: Prepare your answers for the short essays before starting the online application:
- Why did you select your specific program and host country? (150-200 words)
- How will studying abroad help you achieve your future academic, personal and career goals? (150-200 words)
- What aspects of studying abroad do you expect to be the most challenging for you? What knowledge, skills, and experiences will help you deal with these challenges? (150-200 words)
Passports and Visas
Students must obtain a valid passport and visa (if required by the country). Students without a passport at the time of the application can still apply, but they must show a valid passport shortly after being admitted to their program. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the end date of the program.
Below are helpful links to renew or obtain a new passport:
- U.S. Citizens
- Non-U.S. Citizens
Contact local embassy or consulate for information about passport renewal.
The visa requirement will depend on the student’s nationality and program location. The process will also vary by country. If you already know where you want to study abroad, you can visit that country’s U.S. consulate website to learn about visa requirements for students. After admission to their study abroad program, students will receive country-specific guidance.
International Students: We encourage students of all citizenships to apply. International students on an F-1 visa will work with the International Student Services Office at BMCC to secure the necessary immigration documents to reenter the United States.
