Students must obtain a valid passport and visa (if required by the country). Students without a passport at the time of the application can still apply, but they must show a valid passport shortly after being admitted to their program. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the end date of the program.
Below are helpful links to renew or obtain a new passport:
- U.S. Citizens: www.travel.state.gov
- Non U.S. Citizens: contact local embassy or consulate for information about passport renewal: https://embassy.goabroad.com/
The visa requirement will depend on the student’s nationality and program location. The process will also vary by country. If you already know where you want to study abroad, you can visit that country’s U.S. consulate website to learn about visa requirements for students. After admission to their study abroad program, students will receive country-specific guidance.
International students on an F-1 visa will work with the International Student Services Office at BMCC to secure the necessary immigration documents to reenter the United States.
