Why the Learning Academy?

Community

The Health Professions Community allows you to connect easily with students who are interested in healthcare careers. As you develop a strong professional relationship with your academic advisor through one-on-one meetings and weekly success seminars, you will design your path to academic success in a health profession, using proven strategies and campus resources. From entrance into BMCC to graduation and transfer, the BLA Health Professions Community is your home on BMCC’s campus.

Success Seminars

Learning Academy success seminars, taught by advisors, are an excellent way to develop important academic, professional, and college success skills with other students. Success seminars are designed for health profession majors. They offer students academic empowerment, strategies for connecting to faculty, the ability to improve time management and study habits, familiarity with campus resources, career exploration, professional skill development, and step-by-step plans for transfer.

Career Exploration and Transfer

Through professional guest speakers and transfer infosessions, students will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of health professions to solidify their career pathway.

Members of the Health Professions Community who want to transfer will receive intensive transfer advisement and transfer application assistance. Our students have been accepted as transfer students at Hunter College, City College, Stony Brook University, SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology, Baruch College, NYU and Columbia University.
