Join BMCC STEP

To join BMCC Science and Technology Entry (STEP) programs, you must:

1. Be a NYC high school student AND NY state resident.
2. Meet STEP eligibility requirements
3. Complete and submit an application.
4. Submit Required Documents (see below).

Required Documents

Please read carefully. Applicants may or may not have to submit all documents.

• Most recent transcript
  Required for all applicants.
• Free or reduced lunch documentation
  Required for any applicant who does receives free/reduced lunch.
  See eligibility requirements.
• (Family) Tax return showing adjusted gross income.
  Required for any applicant who does not receive free/reduced lunch.
  See eligibility requirements.
  
• Essay: 250-500 words, “Why I want to join STEP (or) do STEP research”
  Required for any new (has not attended STEP in 2016) or research applicants.
• Research Recommendation
  Required for students who apply to do research.
• A signed permissions slip
  Required for all accepted students.  Permission Slips will be emailed upon acceptance.

All required documents should be labeled with the student’s name and delivered by:

• scanning and emailing to bmccstep@gmail.com, or
• mailed or hand-delivered to the STEP office (BMCC, 199 Chambers Street, Room S-430H)
