The Department of Social Sciences, Human Services and Criminal Justice includes active researchers in the disciplines of Anthropology, Criminal Justice, Economics, Geography, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work and Sociology.
Of the 75 full-time faculty in the department, 70 are currently conducting research (93.33%) and are interested in engaging student researchers. A list of some of the active faculty can be found here.
Policies and Procedures
All students, faculty and staff interested in using the Social Sciences Research Laboratory (SSRL) must review the SSRL’s Access and Use Policy.
Faculty and students conducting research in the SSRL must hold a RCR CITI Certificate. Review the CITI Training procedures to learn how to obtain a certificate. In addition, students must submit a Student Volunteer Form prior to conducting any research inside of all core facilities.
Staff and faculty interested in gaining access to the lab must complete the SSRL Room Access Request Form. Access to the Social Science Research Laboratory rooms are for faculty and staff only; students cannot request or receive access.
Software
This multidisciplinary space houses computer stations for data analysis, focus group space, interview space and audio/video equipment. Additionally, the lab houses equipment for experiments on visual attention, learning and memory.

Social Science Research Laboratory Rooms
The Social Science Research Laboratory has (3) rooms:
- Room S-633: Main Research Room
- Room S-633A: Conference Room/Focus Group Room
- Room S-633B: Quiet Room (primarily used for experiments with low noise requirements)
To book the conference room, complete the SSRL Room Reservation Form at least 48 hours prior to the prospective reservation time. Reservation requests made anytime after are not promised.
