Being Specific in Your Writing - 5/3/12
Writing Center tutors will help students understand the necessity of specificity in academic writing. Workshop will focus on employing techniques that allow your writing to "come alive" through the use of concrete nouns, descriptive adjectives, and active verbs.
Revision - 5/7/12
Writing Center tutors will help students understand the necessity of the revision process in academic writing. Workshop will focus on employing editing and proofreading techniques to improve and "polish" their writing.
Writing is not Speaking - 5/9/12
Writing Center tutors will help students understand the appropriate use of informal (e.g. slang) and formal language in academic writing. Workshop will focus on the unique characteristics and “rules” of written language in an academic setting.
