What are Nontraditional Careers?

More and more students are discovering that they have the abilities and interests to excel in careers that have previously been considered nontraditional. Nontraditional careers defy traditional gender-based roles.

Why do students consider nontraditional careers?
The answer for some students is simple: the pay and job benefits in traditional careers meet their economic needs. Nontraditional careers can pay more than traditional careers, especially for women.
