SUNY Downstate Medical Center
This agreement establishes procedures to promote the easy transition of qualified students from BMCC following the completion of the RN Nursing Curriculum with an AAS degree in to the upper division BS nursing program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, College of Nursing.
Objectives of the agreement:
- • To provide specific information for transfer students who wish to pursue baccalaureate degrees in nursing.
- • To attract qualified students to BMCC and SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
- • To encourage academic coordination and other faculty and administrative interaction.
- • To exchange information on success and failures of the transfer program in order to improve it.
Terms of the agreement:
If accepted into the program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center,
the students will be given full junior status with opportunity to complete
the BS degree in tow years of full time study, a total of 40 credits to
be taken at SUNY under the following conditions.
- • Completion of the required courses at BMCC Nursing program as outlined below.
- • Completion of the following SUNY prerequisite courses at an accredited institution, including an additional 21 credits beyond those required by BMCC's nursing program:

NOTE:
- • Total of 60 undergraduate credits is required for transfer to SUNY Downstate Medical Center undergraduate, upper division curricula.
- • A cumulative GPA of 2.5 and RN licensure
- • Full and equivalent credit will be given for all non-nursing courses that meet SUNY prerequisite course requirements. No transfer credit will be given for courses with earned grades below "C".
- • Upon admission, four credits for non-nursing courses taken at BMCC will be accepted for program transfer as elective credit.
