City College- Early Childhood Education
Center for Worker Education
If you want to receive initial New York State certification in Early Childhood Education (birth to grade 2) and wish to transfer to a CUNY college, to do so you must transfer to one of the five senior colleges in the system that offer courses at the bachelors level in Early Childhood Education (ECE). One such college is City College's Center for Worker Education (CWE) located at 99 Hudson Street (City College's uptown campus only offers ECE at the graduate level).

To be considered eligible for admission into the Early Childhood Teacher Education Program under the articulation guidelines at CWE, you will need a 2.75 or better grade point average at BMCC, 'B' or better in all ECE courses and have passed the CPE. Any grades lower than a C- will not transfer; you must retake those classes at BMCC.
Once you are at CWE, you must pass the School of Education Admissions Test (SEAT) during your first semester. However, if you pass the New York State Teacher Certification Examination (NYSTCE) Liberal Arts and Science Test (LAST), you will not need to take the SEAT. Additionally, you must pass an interview with program faculty. At CWE, in addition to your Pedagogical Core (ECE major), you must choose a liberal arts major. You will choose either Communications and Literature or Social Science.
If you plan to transfer to Center for Worker Education, we advise you to:

Do not take a studio art course or a music course.
