Duties and Resposibilities
As a Teaching Learning Center (TLC) Advisory Board member, volunteer, or Departmental Liaison, you are expected to attend all TLC Advisory Board meetings, and committee meetings called by the chair(s) of the committee you join. All Board members, Departmental Liaisons, and volunteers are also expected to attend at least three events sponsored each semester by the TLC.

Program Committee
Plan, implement and solicit for interdisciplinary programs, and events of general interest to faculty and staff. Act as host/facilitator at events sponsored by the TLC that do not fall under the responsibilities of another committee. Get buildings and grounds to tidy the room before and after events. Distribute the participant attendance sheet (and evaluations). Collect the completed information and any materials pertaining to the presentations and submit it to the Director(s).

Publications Committee
Plan, implement and facilitate Publications Day. Solicit and edit articles for Faculty Focus, the TLC newsletter. Work on the layout and design of Faculty Focus. Submit the initial draft to the TLC Director(s). Get the approval of the Dean of Academic Affairs, and request duplication and college-wide distribution. Work with the Technology Committee on a webpage containing information about the TLC and the activities it sponsors.

Publicity Committee
Recruit Departmental Liaisons. To enhance college-wide participation at TLC events and activities, as much as possible, avoid recruiting TLC Advisory Board members to serve as Departmental Liaisons. Plan, implement, and facilitate the TLC Open House. Design and disseminate flyers campus-wide using services of reprographics and Lotus Notes, Departmental Liaisons, the TLC Advisory Board and volunteers to promote activities sponsored by the TLC. Prior to each event, post the flyers throughout the college. A few days before each event send additional correspondence/flyers to faculty/staff as reminders, particularly to TLC Board members, volunteers, and Departmental Liaisons. Notify the Media Center to advertise events on the closed circuit monitor. The secretary of the TLC is an ex officio member of this committee.

Resources Committee
Maintain TLC archives (mission statement, minutes, Faculty Focus, flyers, presentations, attendance list, and so on) and manage the operations of the TLC library. Maintain and improve the appearance of the TLC. Catalog and file articles, pamphlets, brochures, books, audio and videotapes. Solicit faculty publications and articles for the TLC library and make recommendations for resources to order for the library. Publish an updated list of all TLC materials. Keep current periodicals in order. Notify Board members when older periodicals are available for personal use. Discard unwanted issues.

Technology Committee
Develop, update, and maintain the TLC website. Plan and implement Technology Day. Solicit, plan, and facilitate presentations by Technology Grant Awardees. Offer workshops to the faculty and staff on the educational uses of technology, with the intent to enrich the classroom experiences of BMCC students through enhanced teaching. This may involve collaborating with other entities at the college that are involved in technology. Workshops may be software specific, or may deal with applications of technology in the traditional classroom (creating websites, browsing the Internet to gather information form libraries and electronic media, and disseminating information through personal and institutional websites) or may explore asynchronous modes of distance learning.

Grants Committee
Solicit, plan, and facilitate presentations by Faculty Development Grant Awardees. Solicit for grants to fund TLC activities. Collaborate with the Office of Grants and Developments to organize grants workshops for faculty and staff.

Correspondence Committee
Send out thank you letters to all TLC participants (attendees, presenters, liaisons, volunteers, and Board members). Collaborate with all TLC committees and Co-Directors to deal with TLC correspondence and news releases. Plan, implement, and facilitate the Faculty Recognition Day events which includes recognition of TLC Board members, volunteers, and Departmental Liaisons.

Bylaws Committee
The committee is responsible for updating and developing the TLC bylaws. It is charged with the task of conducting all TLC elections as indicated in the bylaws. This includes the college wide call for elections for all TLC offices, setting the date, overseeing the nominations and selections of candidates, and announcing the new officers to the college.
