Balancing the Curriculum for Race, Ethnicity,
Gender, and Class

The Balancing the Curriculum seminars at BMCC are unique in their focus on teaching to those specific elements of the BMCC student body that are not usually granted particular attention. These elements are written into the title of the seminar: race, ethnicity, gender and class. Whereas most pedagogical presentations and discussions on campuses focus on more broadly defined topics such as critical thinking, learning differences, reading and writing skills and computational matters, the Balancing the Curriculum seminars pay attention to the highly individualized concerns of the diverse students at BMCC.
