An Educational Planner serves as a liaison between the faculty advisors and their selected liberal arts students.

Primary roles and responsibilities?

As an EP, our roles are to set up preliminary educational plans for students during their academic career here at BMCC. In addition, we also help to interpret placement test scores, explain the data advisement sheet, provide academic audits to students and guide students toward appropriate support services such as counseling, financial aid, LRC, international student assistance, etc.

Assisting faculty advisors.

After the preliminary meeting with their EPs, students will be assigned to Title 5 faculty advisors based on student interest and steering Committee guidelines. In the event where the Faculty Advisor cannot be reached by one of the students in his cohort, the Educational Planner will be there to assist the student in whatever way that he/she can.

The EPs will meet with the students to explain the data advisement sheet and explain CUNY placement scores. They will also inform students of college resources if they need to be referred to another department. The EPs will assist the advisors in contacting students who have missed appointments. They will also act as liaisons to the advisors during the summer months.
