Mission and Goals

The Title V Academic Advising Program is committed to guiding liberal arts students in the development of educational and career goals.

Consistent with the mission of the College and of the University to preserve academic excellence and extend higher educational opportunities to a diversified urban population, Title V seeks to provide liberal arts students with academic advisement that will improve success and retention rates.

The program will use a developmental advisement model that will involve the collaboration of trained faculty members from the liberal arts academic departments, professionals from the Academic Advisement and Transfer Center, and the use of a new and comprehensive student database.

The integration of these elements will facilitate the enhancement of teaching and learning, establish college-wide advisement standards, and empower liberal arts students in becoming independent decision-makers regarding the transfer-process to four-year colleges as well as individual educational and career goals.
