CUNY Skills Assessment Tests
EXEMPTION CRITERIA
You may be exempt from the CUNY Reading and Writing Tests if you can document any one of the following:
SAT 1 Verbal score of 480 or better
SAT Critical Reading score of 480 or better (Prior to March 2005, the Critical Reading section was known as the SAT 1 Verbal section.)
ACT English score of 20 or better
New York State Regents score in English of 75 or better
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited domestic institution
45 or more credits from an accredited domestic institution outside of CUNY

You may be exempt from the CUNY Mathematics Test

if you can document any one of the following:

SAT 1 Math score of 480 or better
SAT Reasoning Test - Math score of 480 or better
ACT Math score of 20 or better
New York State Regents score in Math A or B, or Sequential II or III of 75 or better
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited domestic institution
45 or more credits from an accredited domestic institution outside of CUNY

Submit all documentation (eg. official transcripts, SAT scores) in support of exemptions to the Admissions Office (S-300) before registration. After you have submitted your documentation, the Admissions Office will give you a memo indicating that the relevant documents have been filed. Bring this memo to the Testing Office (N-700), where your exemptions will be recorded. Once your exemptions have been recorded, you will be able to speak to an academic advisor about course selection and registration.

If you have taken the CUNY Tests at another CUNY college or through a high school program, please inform the Testing Office of the results before scheduling a test date.
