School Health Education (SHE)

What is School Health Education?
School Health Education (SHE) is a professional field in which certified educators convey health information to students of public or private elementary, middle, and secondary schools.

This field is expected to grow because of recent initiatives and policies enacted to address the increasing number of school age children and adolescents afflicted with chronic diseases, such as asthma, diabetes, and obesity.

School Health Education at BMCC is Co-Coordinated by the Health Education and Teacher Education Departments. Training in school health education will give you the knowledge and skills necessary to develop, implement, and evaluate lesson plans that address the multiple dimensions of health. This preparation enables school health educators to effectively promote health and prevent disease among children, adolescents, and other populations.
