Summer in the City

COLLEGE NOW PROGRAM:

Introduction to Television Production

For students entering 11th or 12th grade in September 2008.

Did you ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes in a television studio? This summer you can find out first hand in the “real world” environment of BMCC’s state-of-the-art Media Center. By successfully completing the program, you’ll earn two college credits toward a Video Arts & Technology major at BMCC, or two possible college credits as an “elective” in another major or at another college.

The Schedule

July 7th – July 31st, Monday through Thursday, 10am – 3pm

A Sample Day

10:00 am -12:00 Noon:
Mornings are spent in the Media Center as you learn about the technology that makes television and video “happen”. Find out what’s inside a television studio and control room and how a video image is formed; see High Definition studio equipment and learn the impact of this new technology; uncover the “mystery” of an audio studio; and discover how it’s all put together in the digital editing suites.

12:00 Noon – 1:00 pm
Lunch vouchers are provided for use in the BMCC Student Cafeteria

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Afternoons take place in Studio A and control room working with professional equipment. Besides learning to write scripts and direct multi-camera productions, you’ll take turns in all crew positions operating the studio cameras, the video switcher, character generator and audio console.

In addition:
