Science

BMCC science programs prepare you to pursue popular careers in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields, health sciences and more. The BMCC Science Department delivers quality coursework to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a variety of degree programs and pre-professional studies.

Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Programs

The Department offers A.S. degree programs in trending fields such as Science (SCI), Science for Forensics (FSC), Biotechnology (BTE), Engineering Science (ESC) and Science for Health (SHP).

Research Opportunities

Many faculty are engaged in active research at BMCC and students are able to work closely with professors to obtain an independent research experience. Students have opportunities to present their research at the annual BARS Symposium as well as other venues.

Health Sciences

The BMCC Science Department offers courses for students interested in pursuing Nursing (NUR) and allied health sciences such as Respiratory Therapy (RTT), Health Information Technology (HIT), and Paramedic (EMC).

Science Courses for Non-Science Majors

Courses are offered for non-science majors to fulfill their degree requirements. BMCC has student support services providing free tutoring and other support. Whether a student is planning to transfer to a four-year school or to complete their studies at BMCC, the Science Department offers courses and activities to help.

Robotics Club

The Robotics club meets on Wednesdays, from 2-4 p.m. and offers a range of events including lectures by experts in the field, tutorials on how to build robots, hands-on workshops, competitions with other universities, and social gatherings. Members will have access to resources such as 3D printers, microcontrollers, and other equipment necessary for building robots. Furthermore, members will get to work with experienced mentors and attend workshops to learn new technologies.
