Actors Theatre Workshop is proud to offer a Volunteer Program for people from all walks of life that leads to personal and professional development through creative training and community service, and provides an opportunity to make a meaningful commitment to our shared community through award-winning programs of The Actors Theatre Workshop.
Alley Pond Environmental Center is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to establishing awareness, understanding and appreciation of the environment and the responsibilities associated with preserving the environment in an urban setting.
Volunteer to be a BMCC Ambassador and become an active member within the college community.
Tutoring in remedial reading for children in grades 2 – 8.
Looking for responsible, energetic and outgoing student volunteers to assist the seniors in either teaching them english, basic computer operation or reading to them
A group residence for homeless men and women who have been diagnosed with AIDS. .
Mentoring
Community Based Program- volunteers must be 21 or older. Volunteers will be able to take kids out into the communities for various activities.
School Based Program- volunteers must be 18 or older. Volunteers will meet with a student at the student's school once a week, typically during lunch period. These meetings will be supervised by a Big Brother Big Sister of NY staff member.
What is BOOM? BOOM is a site based, one on one, mentoring program whose goal is to identify and service 225 youth, between 4th and 8th grade; BOOM is designed, specifically, to meet the needs of children across the City of New York, and especially the Bronx; by providing mentors to our community, the community of youth in this City, the Bronx One on One Mentoring program (BOOM) can begin to help guide the lives of youth in ways that can speak, more directly, to their individual needs.
Volunteers must be 21 or older, and this is a year long commitment.
Bronx Zoo Education Docents
Enthusiastic adults 18 or older, who can serve weekdays or weekends for a minimum period of two years, are prime candidates for the program. Weekday docents serve one day per week; weekend docents serve one day every other weekend. Please refer to the website for more information, or you may call (718) 220-5141 or email foz@wcs.org.
Bronx Zoo Volunteer Ambassadors
Volunteers are responsible for providing the best possible guest experience and service to our visitors. Applicants to our program must be 18 years of age or older, with a valid driver's license. They must also successfuly complete a five day training program.
