If You Are The Victim

The Public Safety Department has formulated guidelines to be followed when dealing with reports of sexual assault. The primary objective of these guidelines is to provide all possible assistance to the victim, apprehend the perpetrator and maintain the confidentiality of the victim as much as possible.

These guidelines are as follows:

As with all other reports of incidents occurring on campus, the public safety officer taking the report will obtain as much information as possible about the circumstances of the incident.

Unlike other reports, the identity of the victim will be kept as confidential as possible. The name, address, and other identifying information will not be included on the incident report.

If a student is found guilty of violating university rules, he/she shall be subjected to the following range of sanctions defined in the Rules and Regulations for the Maintenance of Public Order pursuant to Article 129-A of the Education Law: admonition, warning, censure, disciplinary probation, restitution, suspension, expulsion, ejection, and/or arrest by the civil authorities.
