Our Minority Science Education Improvement and Retention and Improvements in STEM Education Program* (MSEIP-RISE) aims to create a supportive and innovative STEM pipeline where STEM students can be able to successfully matriculate in their respective STEM major and be knowledgeable and competitive at senior colleges.

MSEIP-RISE Benefits

MSEIP-RISE offers the following services to accepted students into the Grant at BMCC:

  • One-on-One Advisement with MSEIP RISE STEM Advisors
  • MSEIP-RISE Math classes to prepare for STEM majors
  • MSEIP-RISE Learning Academy
  • MSEIP-RISE STEM Practicum
  • MSEIP-RISE Peer Tutors
  • Faculty mentored Paid Research Opportunities (must be a US Citizen or a permanent resident with a green card)
  • MSEIP-RISE Paid Internship Opportunities (must be a US Citizen or a permanent resident with a green card)

Eligibility

Accepted BMCC Minority Students who are low- income and will be majoring in one of the following STEM majors at BMCC:

Computer Information System Department

  • Computer Network Technology (AAS)
  • Computer Information Systems (AAS)
  • Computer Science (AS)
  • Geographic Information System (AS)

Department of Mathematics

  • Mathematics (AS)

Department of Science

  • Biotechnology Science (AS)
  • Engineering Science (AS)
  • Science (AS)
  • Science for Forensics (AS)
