To The BMCC Family:
Although we suffered significant hurricane damage, our emergency response staff has restored most of our campus systems. On Thursday, we reopened our Web page and as of 4:30 PM today, Friday, we restored our college email.
The salt water damage to the equipment in one of our mechanical and electrical rooms is being worked on right now by an electrical engineering firm. Once Con Ed restores power to our area, BMCC will be able to operate all campus facilities. If we receive power by Sunday, we will be open for classes on Monday.
All members of the college community have pulled together to help BMCC reopen, one week after the biggest natural disaster to hit this region. The positive and encouraging spirit expressed by our students really inspired all of us to move quickly, decisively and creatively to find solutions to what seemed like impossible challenges.
We know that some of you have experienced dislocation from the disastrous effects of this hurricane and some of us suffered even more than that. BMCC is thankful for the many expressions of support which we received and we will continue to do whatever it takes to remain on track for the resumption of classes on Monday, November 5.
Please check the BMCC Website, your college email, and our BMCC Facebook page for notices confirming our actual schedule.
I want to thank everyone for the help, advice, and assistance we received during the crisis. Moreover, I appreciate the assistance of the University for hosting our back-up page on the CUNY Website, as well as providing other means of critical help.
