To the BMCC Community:
After a long and divisive presidential campaign, many of us are still processing the outcome. We cannot be certain of what changes may come, but we can be certain that BMCC’s commitment to the intellectual and personal growth of all students, and our commitment to ensuring a safe, respectful and inclusive learning community for all members remain steadfast.
BMCC’s mission has evolved since 1963 to accommodate changes in the New York City and national economy, and changing student needs. Today, we have an opportunity to show how resilient we are as a college and to ensure that every student is provided with the support to achieve his or her goals.
Pursuing an education is a powerful strategy to find your voice and follow your dreams. At BMCC, our mission to support your dreams remains strong. We are a vibrant, pluralistic learning community, and we are fortunate to live in a democracy where your voice matters. We celebrate our diversity and the vital role that BMCC plays in expanding educational opportunity, particularly for immigrants and underrepresented populations.
The BMCC Community is invited to share experiences, thoughts and hopes as we enter the next phase in our country’s history. Please join us for a College-wide Forum on Tuesday, November 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Richard Harris Terrace at 199 Chambers Street.
The BMCC Counseling Center staff is available to provide support for the BMCC Community in 199 Chambers Street, Room S343. I encourage you to continue your engagement in this important dialogue, and I have confidence that we can learn from each other as we strive to understand the complicated issues before us and move forward together.
