First Place Honors, in Saving Lives

Left to Right: Kevin Ramdayal, Miguel Flores and Dave Cadogan

June 25, 2014

Two paramedic instructors at BMCC, Kevin Ramdayal and Dave Cadogan, and an alumni of the program, Miguel Flores, recently won first place honors in the Fire Department of New York’s EMS Week Competition held in Metrotech Commons.

All three members of the winning team are from FDNY Station 26, Division 2. The event gathered paramedics and EMTs from across New York City, and gauged their response to a simulated vehicle crash into a sidewalk café, complete with actors playing the role of injured pedestrians.

The contest winners excelled in the areas of basic scene safety, as well as assessing, diagnosing and treating the patients, and applying appropriate intervention.

“Today you truly demonstrated the great work you do every day,” Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano said. “Keep up the great work.”
