Math Team

The BMCC Math Team meets every Wednesday at 2pm in room N580. We work on challenging, fun problems, sometimes we have a pizza party, and we compete against other two-year-colleges in the AMATYC Student Math League. (We won first place in 2011 in the Northeast Region.)

Here is a game: you throw darts at a spinning globe with your eyes closed, until three darts land somewhere on the globe. You win the game if the darts land in the same hemisphere, and you get to determine where the hemisphere starts. What is the probability you win this game?
