DUTIES:

GENERAL DUTIES:

Provides academic counseling and planning services to a diverse student population. Assists students with clarifying values and goals; counsels students regarding educational options, requirements, policies and procedures. Offers academic and personal support to guide students through the course selection process Provides students with effective and timely referral to other college and external support services Monitors and evaluates students' educational progress by conducting academic progress audits Establishes and maintains student files, databases and records; prepares activity reports and analyses May specialize in providing advice on specific programs or to specific student groups Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Reporting directly to the Director of Academic Advisement & Transfer or designee, the successful candidate will work with the student services area, including Registrar and Testing; deliver and coordinate academic advisement and transfer services to a diverse urban community college population; and work with a large number of students on an individual and group basis. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: Initially meet with students and refer them to appropriate support services, if necessary. Assist students with interpreting their CUNY placement scores and the remedial course sequence. Assist with the delivery of transfer information sessions. Provide academic audits for students preparing to apply for graduation. Provide academic and transfer advisement, using various media (including e-advisement). Conduct seminars and workshops on topics such as Liberal Arts Careers, Time Management, Preparing for Transfer, etc. Coordinate trips to senior colleges for students looking to transfer. Work closely with Admissions and Registrar Offices on recruitment and retention projects. Work schedule will include evening and weekend hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of higher education and/or academic advising experience with a diverse student population preferred. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and analytical skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft suite.

SALARY: $35,576 - $40,129
