DUTIES:

GENERAL DUTIES:
 
Develops and oversees student financial aid programs in accordance with Federal/State laws and regulations and University guidelines.

Develops and interprets financial aid polices and procedures with regard to Federal and NY State programs such s internal loan programs, all state and federal loan programs, Stafford Loans, Perkins Loans, College Work Study, and Tuition Assistance Program (TAP).

Reports on general and fiscal matters such as program expenditures, projections of full-year spending potential, and analyses of spending patterns

Authorizes the disbursement of funds.

Monitors compliance with Federal and State financial aid regulations, developing and implementing compliance procedures.

Serves as College liaison to Federal, State, local and professional agencies on financial aid matters.

Assures that the Financial Aid function works effectively with other College units (e.g., Admissions, Registrar, Bursar).

Manages financial aid staffing, development, and evaluation.

Performs related duties as assigned.
 
CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
 
The BMCC Director of Financial Aid provides the overall management and leadership necessary for effective administration of CUNY's largest student financial aid program. The Director is a member of the College's student enrollment team and provides quality services to students, families, and other constituencies in relation to financial aid and enrollment matters. The Director supervises senior professional and administrative staff.

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

Providing overall leadership, management, evaluation, and strategic vision to the BMCC Financial Aid Office.

Effectively ensuring compliance with federal and state financial aid laws and regulations through formulating and overseeing college financial aid policies and procedures.

Responsibility for the management and awarding of more than $50 million dollars in student assistance.

Supporting the College's goal to recruit, retain, and graduate talented and diverse students by applying leading-edge technologies and practices in the development, implementation, and management of effective financial aid and student programs and services.

Making recommendations on policies and procedures to meet BMCC enrollment objectives.

Collaborating with and counseling senior college administrators in the implementation of college and CUNY initiatives, new federal and state programs, and process/system redesign.

Serving as representative for the College and Student Affairs division on college-wide and University committees as well as participating in professional activities on a State- wide and National level.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.
 
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
 
Experience in a higher education setting preferred, preferably in a diverse setting with prior experience in financial aid services. Candidates must have excellent organizational, presentation, written, and oral communication skills; have the ability to provide outstanding customer service in a fast paced, deadline driven environment; and possess an understanding of the cultural, social, and educational needs of a multi-ethnic campus community. Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Suite required. Work schedule may include some evenings and weekends.

Master's degree in related field preferred.

SALARY: $68,803 - $106,071
