Directs College registration operations and serves as Registrar.

Provides leadership in advancing the College enrollment goals and is responsible for all activities associated with the registration process

Develops strategic plan to address student enrollment, registration activities, data collection and dissemination, records confidentiality and degree audit protocol; assures quality of testing and implementation of system updates

Oversees a wide array of enrollment and retention initiatives and special projects; recommends and administers enhanced technology applications to improve processing systems and data integrity

Assesses outcomes and formulates responses to meet established goals and objectives; presents performance results data to facilitate executive decision-making

Ensures reporting requirements are completed in timely and accurate manner to fulfill various legal obligations; maintains audit trails

Manages professional and clerical staff as well as department budget

Performs related duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Senior Registrar has overall responsibility for the functioning of the Registrar's Office.  The Senior Registrar provides leadership to college-wide initiatives such as registration, web-attendance, degree auditing systems, and other technology based systems.  In addition, the Senior Registrar is responsible for maintaining a responsive office to all campus constituents including students, faculty, staff members and offices.

Specific responsibilities include:

Serve as the leader of an office consisting of over 25 staff members, including HEO series, secretarial, and student workers.  Responsible for personnel reviews within collective bargaining agreement and guidelines as well as maintaining a professionally run office.

Serve as a resource for new, innovative advances in technology as related to the Registrar's Office.

Responsible for Scheduling, Registration, Graduation, and Enrollment Verification.

Provide enrollment and registration reports to senior administrators at BMCC and to the central office of CUNY as requested.

Responsible for implementations of the Students Records module of CUNYFirst.

Provide expert guidance on FERPA issues as related to student information systems and the release of student information to constituents.  Determine appropriate access to student information for each individual request.  Develop and maintain security policies of student records.

Serve on CUNY's Registrar's Council, BMCC's Enrollment Management Team and other college and university committees, as appropriate.

Develop and administer the department budget.

Collaborate with other offices, both within and external to the Academic Affairs Division, to continually improve student services.

Participate in professional development activities for staff members of the Registrar's Office.


Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.
Bachelor's degree and eight years experience in a related college office, with at least five years in a Registrar's Office, preferably within a public institution, required; master's degree preferred.  Supervisory experience of staff members, preferably in a collective bargaining environment, required.  Demonstrated knowledge of technology applications as related to student registration and student records required.  Experience working with other departments outside the Registrar's Office preferred.  The Registrar is expected to demonstrate good organizational skills with the ability to work independently, think creatively, take initiative, and use sound judgment under pressure.  Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required.

SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
