DUTIES:

GENERAL DUTIES:
 
Directs development and operations of a College's academic testing function.
 
Designs, implements and monitors a comprehensive testing program which may include a borough testing/scoring center or other specialized function

Oversees testing outcomes assessment and creates strategic plan to further develop testing program

Administers all compliance and data integrity activities of the testing unit in accordance with University standards

Advises College administration on University testing policy, interpretation and implementation on campus

Develops and manages unit budget

Cultivates and maintains strategic partnerships; serves as primary liaison to faculty and administrators to plan and execute testing activities

Manages professional and clerical staff

Serves as the College's representative on University Testing Council

Performs related duties as assigned.


CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
 
The Director of Academic Testing reports to the Dean of Academic Affairs and is responsible for maintaining the Instructional Testing Office and supervision of assigned staff.  Administers all college testing activities and may coordinate a centralized CUNY essay grading center for Manhattan.  Maintains and updates data related to test scores and placements; processes and administers post-tests for Developmental Skills, Mathematics and English Departments; coordinates testing functions with Admissions, Registrar and Computer Center.  Tests prospective students for the college's collaborative programs and partnerships.  Analyzes test data as well as prepares and disseminates reports.

Serves as the college's representative on University Testing Council.  Advises college administration on University testing policy, its interpretation and policy implementation on campus.  Tests students at off-site locations and coordinates and administers tests for the CUNY Language Immersion Program and CUNY Start.  Oversees the BMCC computer-based testing lab.  Assists with the coordination of the BMCC student-faculty evaluation program and the administration of the Modern Language Placement test.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.
 
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
 
Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years related experience required; Master's degree in Testing/Assessment, Computer Information Systems, or related field preferred.  Knowledge of testing and ability to analyze test data, strong background in computers/applications for Testing Office operations, use of computer databases, proven administrative and writing abilities, demonstrated knowledge of budget process, and ability to oversee and manage office operations with a staff of 15-20.

SALARY: $68,803 - $106,071
