BLACKBOARD FAQs
1. I forgot my portal username and password. What do I do?
  On the CUNY portal page, select "Portal Help" from the bottom left side of the page. Under Web Support, select "E-mail for more help." Fill out the online form and click send. Be sure to include your full name, date of birth, and a contact phone number.

If you perfer telephone support, contact the CUNY/CIS Help Desk - (212) 541-0981.
2. I can't register my Portal ID account. What now?
  If you are unable to register, please contact the Registrar at BMCC, (718) 220-1290, room S-310. Confirm the spelling of your name, birthday, and social security number with the Registrar.
3. What are the system requirements for Blackboard 6?
  System requirements for Blackboard 6:
Platform: Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, or ME; MacOS X
Hardware: 64 MB of RAM, 1 G of free disk space
Software: Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Reader
Browser: Windows - Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, Netscape - 7.0 or higher. Windows users also need the latest Java Plug-in
  MacOS X - Internet Explorer 5.1 or higher, Netscape 7.0 or higher
4. I use a Machintosh. What should I do?
  Use MacOS X v 10.2 or higher and Internet Explorer 5.1 or higher or Netscape 7.0 or higher.
5. I'm using AOL and it is not working. What now?
  You should minimize AOL's browser and maximize Internet Explorer. You can only use Netscape or Internet Explorer.
6. I don't have an e-mail account. What do I do?
  All registered BMCC students have an e-mail account. If you don't know your username and PIN, just log on to PANTHER to retrieve them.
7. How do I copy from my Word document into Blackboard?
  Highlight the text in MS Word, go to Edit, select Copy.

8. Why is the CUNY Portal page not opening for me?
  If the CUNY website is not loading or not opening properly, you will need to clear the cache and cookies.

9. Do I need to enable Java on the browser?
  Yes, the MathEQ Editor and Virtual Chat use Java applets.
