After You Are Accepted

Accepted International Student Checklist


  1. Click “I Accept”
    • Fill out the “I Accept” form .
      - If you do not have a Social Security Number, please use the number assigned to you by CUNY on your completed CUNY application (item #7). You can find it by logging into the CUNY Portal.
      - If you do not currently live in the U.S., please leave the Phone, Zip Code and State fields blank.
      - You will not receive a confirmation or email after submitting this form. You only need to submit the form once.
  2. Apply for a BMCC I-20 from the ISSO
  3. Claim your CUNYfirst Account
    - if you do not have a Social Security Number, please use the number assigned to you by CUNY on your completed CUNY application (item #7). You can find it by logging into the CUNY Portal.
  4. Submit required immunization documents to BMCC’s Health Services Center
  5. Register for the CUNY Assessment Test (CAT)
    • The BMCC Testing Office will soon send you an email appointment to take the CUNY Assessment Test. If this date is not suitable, you can make your own appointment and get information regarding test exemption. It is best to complete your testing as soon as possible, so you can register early and have a wider range of courses and class times available to you.
    • If you do not have a Social Security Number, please use the number assigned to you by CUNY on your completed CUNY application (item #7) to make a testing appointment. You can find it by logging into the CUNY Portal.
  6. Attend an International Student Orientation Session
    • Session I: Wednesday, August 2, 2017
    • Session II: Wednesday, August 9, 2017

    After BMCC issues you an I-20 and provides you with a SEVIS number:

  7. Pay your I-901 fee online and print receipt
  8. Apply for visa appointment.
  9. Arrive in the U.S. within 30 days before your program start date:
    • Fall: August 1
    • Spring: January 1
  10. Attend the International Student Orientation session that you signed up for in step six.
