BMCC - CUNY Language Immersion Program

This program is for CUNY ESL STUDENTS who want intensive instruction in all English skills, especially reading and writing, to prepare for college courses.

You may choose to attend the BMCC Language Immersion Program (CLIP) if you are:

• a freshman or transfer student from BMCC (or from another CUNY college) who didn't pass the CUNY tests because English is not your first language
• an ESL student who has been recommended by your ESL department, or is on academic probation, or has been academically dismissed.

Please note: This program is not for International students with an F-1 visa; those students can apply to the BMCC Immersion for International Students (call 212-665 2740 for information)

In this program you can dedicate yourself to learning English, particularly reading and writing.

You do not have to use up valuable financial aid and the Language Immersion Program costs very little - only $180 for a 15-week semester for 25 hours of instruction each week.

• Students are prepared for college (reading, writing, listening, speaking. study skills)
• Intensive program: 25 hours a week
• Classes taught by experienced ESL college teachers who will give you individual attention
• Some students retake the CUNY tests in writing, reading, and math
• Daily computer lab for working on assignments and research
• Books are provided

Registering for the program:

• Letter of acceptance to BMCC or any other CUNY college if you are a new student.
• A transcript if you have taken college courses before.
• BMCC advisement sheet or CUNY Placement Test scores if you have a copy.
• A money order payable to BMCC for the correct amount.
