Agency Shop Fee Agreement/Union Dues

Under an act passed by the New York State Legislature and by agreement between the City and the municipal employee unions, an agency shop agreement requires employers to deduct a fee (equal to the amount payable by a union member) from the wages of non-union workers to ensure that non-union workers, who benefit from the union’s bargaining efforts, make a contribution towards those efforts.

Employees should contact their respective unions if they would like to become dues paying members.
