Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9)

The Immigration Reform Control Act of 1986 requires all employers within three (3) days of employment to verify the employment eligibility of all job applicants and ensure that all newly-hired persons are either US citizens of aliens authorized to work in the United States.

Under this law, BMCC is required to request and examine original documentation pertaining to the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires and rehires, including US citizens, permanent residents, and non-immigrant visa holders.

Should you accept an offer of employment with the Borough of Manhattan Community College, you must present ORIGINAL documentation on or before your first day of work. After these documents are reviewed, you will then be required to complete and sign an Employment Eligibility Verification Form (Form I-9) in the presence of a designated representitive in the Human Resources office, Room S710. Otherwise, your employment at the College will be jepordized.
