Shariffa Ali, ’05, presented a winning paper at the Beacon
Conference for Student Scholars held on June 3 at Montgomery College
in Rockville, Maryland. The annual conference showcases the writing,
research and presentation skills of students at community colleges
throughout Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Maryland. This
was the first time a student from BMCC competed in the highly competitive
conference. A psychology major, Ali’s paper, “The Influence
of Family Structure on Personality/ Case Study: Diana, Princess of
Wales,” won in the Psychology category.
Camille Gibson, ’06,
was named a Wall Street Journal 2005 Student Achievement Award winner.
Gibson, 29, was nominated by the chair
of the Business Management Program, Chaim Ginsberg, and professor,
Carmen Martinez-Lopez. This distinguished program—in recognition
of academic achievement, leadership potential and/or entrepreneurial
spirit, gives colleges and universities an exclusive opportunity
to recognize the performance of their most outstanding students.
