Scope: The Research Project Grant (R01) is an award made by AHRQ to an institution or organization to support a discrete, specified health services research project. The research plan proposed by the applicant must be related to the mission and portfolio priority research interests of AHRQ. The AHRQ mission is to produce evidence to make health

care safer, higher quality, more accessible, equitable and affordable, and to work with HHS and other partners to make sure that the evidence is understood and used. Within the mission, AHRQ's specific priority areas of focus are: (a) Improve health care quality by accelerating implementation

of Patient Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR); (b) Make health care safer; (c) Increase accessibility by evaluating expansions of insurance coverage; and (d) Improve health care affordability, efficiency and cost transparency. Eligibility: Applications may be submitted by: (a) a public or non-profit private institution, such as a university, college, or a faith-based or community-based organization; (b) a unit of local or State government; (c) an eligible agency of the

Federal government; (d) an Indian/Native American Tribal Government or Tribally Designated Organization. Funding: The total costs (direct and indirect costs) awarded to a grant under this FOA will not exceed $400,000 annually for the entire project period. The scope of the proposed project should determine the project period. The maximum period for an application submitted under this FOA is 5 years.
