Scope:  The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine announce postdoctoral, senior and graduate fellowship opportunities in the 2016 NRC Research Associateship Programs. These awards are administered on behalf of federal research laboratories and affiliated institutions in over 100 locations throughout the United States. NRC Research Associateships will be awarded on a competitive basis in 2016 for research in the fields of: chemistry; earth, atmospheric and ocean sciences; engineering, applied sciences, computer sciences and mathematics; life and biomedical sciences; and physics. Eligibility: These programs provide opportunities for PhD, ScD or MD scientist and engineers of unusual promise and ability to perform research on problems largely of their own choosing, yet compatible with the research interests of the sponsoring laboratory. Many labs sponsor both US Citizens and foreign nationals. 


Funding: Doctoral Recipient awards range from $45,000 to $80,000 depending on the sponsoring lab with more for senior awards. Graduate entry level stipends begin at $30,000 and are higher for additional experience. Associates receive health insurance, financial support for allowable relocation expenses and an allowance for professional travel. 


Application Deadlines: February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1. Check with the sponsoring laboratory for specific deadlines. Applicants must contact with Research Adviser/mentor at the proposes sponsoring laboratory prior to submitting formal application.
