Ways to Give

  • Cash Gift TODAY: an immediate gift of cash today by way of a check or a credit card donation online.

You can direct your gift to be used for scholarships, or unrestricted, allowing BMCC to put your contribution towards the college’s most pressing needs.

    Mail checks to:
    BMCC Foundation
    199 Chambers Street – S747
    New York, NY 10007

  • Annual Gift: a pledge of a certain amount of money each year to support BMCC scholarships.

  • Volunteer/Keep in touch:  Alumni are encouraged to support BMCC by being profiled, speaking on panels, serving on committees.

Please contact Pat Splendore at (212) 220-1251 or psplendore@bmcc.cuny.edu if you want to stay involved.

  • Named Endowment: a gift substantial enough (minimum $25,000) that, when invested by BMCC Foundation, can yield enough income each year to support one or more student scholarships or one or more programs (named by you) each year. This is the way to name a particular scholarship after yourself or a loved one, to fund a particular program in perpetuity or to ensure that BMCC has income each year to fund the college’s most pressing needs.

To design the endowment of your choice, contact Karen Wenderoff at 212-220-8021 or kwenderoff@bmcc.cuny.edu.

  • Bequest: a gift through your will. Leave BMCC either a specific dollar amount, a valuable asset, or a percentage of your estate in your will. You may specify how the money is to be spent. Consult your lawyer to add this provision to your will.

  • IRA Beneficiary Designation: BMCC can be a beneficiary of a portion or all of an IRA upon your death. Unlike human beneficiaries who, upon receipt of your IRA money, must pay income tax that you have deferred, BMCC receives your IRA money tax-free! In addition, the money to BMCC as beneficiary will by-pass probate proceedings. Talk to your financial advisor or a representative of the institution that holds your IRA to accomplish this since there are nuances they can explain.

  • Real Estate or Appreciated Stock: a gift of real estate or appreciated stock not only gives BMCC an asset to sell for cash to be used for scholarships and other programs, it allows you to avoid the capital gains tax on sale of the asset and to receive a charitable income tax deduction. Matching Gifts: Many corporations have matching gift programs that will match your donation to BMCC.  Search to see if your company or employer participates.

Honor or memorialize a friend or loved one by making a gift to the BMCC Foundation in their name. The individual or family will receive a note telling them about your thoughtful tribute.
