Financial Aid
Welcome New Students
Congratulations on your decision to attend the Borough of Manhattan Community College. We expect that you may need help in order to pay your tuition and other school-related expenses.

There are several kinds of financial assistance available from the federal, state and city governments that can supplement your family's financial resources and make the challenge of paying for college somewhat easier. The Office of Financial Aid is eager to help you obtain all the financial aid for which you and your family may qualify.

Take a few minutes and explore the "Financial Aid 101" pages that follow. They were designed to orient you and your family to the financial aid applications and awarding process at BMCC.

Some pointers before you begin:

When you apply for financial aid, you are considered for all federal and state programs for which you may be eligible based on the information contained on your applications.
The amount of aid you receive is based on your financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.
In order to be eligible for most federal and state student aid, you must be a US citizen, a permanent resident or other eligible classification of non-citizen, and enrolled in a program leading to a degree.
If you have defaulted on a student loan or owe a repayment of a grant at any other school, you must make satisfactory repayment arrangements with the institutions involved before you receive any aid at BMCC.
Most federal and state financial aid programs require that you make satisfactory academic progress toward the completion of your degree to qualify for continued funding.
Your eligibility for federal student aid may be suspended if you are convicted under federal or state law of the sale or possession of illegal drugs while you are a student receiving federal student aid.
