DISBURSEMENT INFORMATION |
CUNY offers three different ways you may receive your financial aid payments. Choose the payment method most convenient to you. |
OPTION #1: CUNY SCHOLAR SUPPORT PREPAID CARD |
Your financial aid grant, loan and work-study payments are automatically deposited to a prepaid MasterCard® card on the scheduled disbursement date. This card is accepted at any store or ATM where MasterCard debit cards are accepted. Learn more about this option and enroll to receive your card here. |
OPTION #2: DIRECT DEPOSIT |
| Your funds are electronically deposited
into your own personal checking or savings account on the scheduled disbursement date. Learn more about direct deposit and download a direct deposit authorization form here. |
OPTION #3: CHECK |
| If you do not choose option #1 or #2, your financial aid payments will be made in the form of a check mailed to your home address on the scheduled disbursement date. |
PROTECTING YOUR CHECK |
| - |
Be sure to keep your mailing address current with BOTH the Registrar and the Financial Aid Office. |
| - |
If you don't receive an expected check within 10 days of the scheduled disbursement date, please contact the Bursar's Office at (212) 220-1300. |
| - |
Deposit or cash your check as soon as possible after you receive it. Stale checks may not be able to be replaced and you risk losing those funds. |
| - |
Do not endorse your check until you are ready to cash or deposit it. |
| - |
Report any lost or stolen check to the Bursar' Office immediately. |
| - |
If you lose your check after signing the back and it is cashed, CUNY will NOT cover the loss. |
| - |
If CUNY issues a replacement check, it may take up to 6 months to receive it. |
| - |
If you must pick up a replacement check in person, you will be required to present two forms of identification: 1. your BMCC College ID and 2. one of the following: driver's license, non-driver's ID card (can be obtained from the Dept. of Motor Vehicles), original birth certificate, valid passport, permanent resident card, and/or an original copy of a Pell Grant Student Aid Report. No check(s) will be distributed in person without a BMCC ID Card and one of the second forms of identification. |
