New York City Council Merit Scholarship

Can I lose eligibility for the Merit Scholarship?

Yes. To continue receiving a NYC Council Merit Scholarship, you must maintain continuous full-time enrollment [12 or more credits] within the CUNY system and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.  You will be evaluated after the close of each spring semester to see if you have met the enrollment requirements.

If you fail to complete 30 credits over a 1 year period, the Excelsior Scholarship will cover your first term; however, you will be responsible for the tuition liability for your second term. In addition, because you will no longer be on track to complete your degree on time, you will be ineligible for any future award payments.  Once the award is lost, it cannot be restored.
