The Excelsior Scholarship

Can I get an award if I'm a transfer student?

If you are a transfer student, you may be eligible for an Excelsior Scholarship if you are on track to complete your current academic program on time based on the number of credits accepted by the college. Being on track to complete your current program means that you were enrolled continuously and earned 30 credits for each year of enrollment in your prior program. All credits earned previously must have been accepted for your current academic program.

If you started a postsecondary program [associate, bachelor or certificate] before the current school year, but had a break in attendance, did not earn 30 degree credits for each year of enrollment, or your current college did not accept all your prior credits, you are not eligible to receive an Excelsior Scholarship.

What is the "catch-up year"?
