Financial Aid 101

When should I apply?

Apply for financial aid as soon as you have made your decision to attend BMCC. You do not have to wait until you are formally admitted to the college before applying for aid. However, the Financial Aid Office will not be able to process your aid applications until after you are formally admitted.

The Financial Aid Office establishes priority filing deadlines to help insure your applications are processed and funds are available before your tuition bill is due and you have to buy books.

For detailed deadline information, go to our Application and Award Deadlines page. If you miss these posted deadlines, you may still apply for financial aid, but not all funds will be available. Some award programs with limited funding are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Allow at least 4-6 weeks processing time for your application(s). The college will credit financial aid awards toward your tuition charges only if your applications have been processed.  You must remember to include BMCC as one of your college choices on your financial aid applications in order for the Financial Aid Office to award you with financial aid.

If your financial aid is not processed by the time a payment is due on your tuition account, you will be expected to make payment from your own resources until processing of your financial aid applications is completed.
