FINANCIAL AID 101
What kinds of financial aid are available at BMCC?
There are three kinds of federal and state financial aid award programs:
Grants - money that does not have to be repaid.
Loans - money that you borrow and agree to pay back with interest.
Work-Study - money that you earn from a job obtained through the Office of Financial Aid.
 
These federal grants and loans can help you with both tuition and other school related expenses:
Bullet Federal PELL Grant
Bullet Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
Bullet Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
Bullet Federal Work-Study (FWS)
Bullet Federal Perkins Loan
Bullet Federal Direct Loan Program
 
These New York State grants for full-time and part-time students can help you pay tuition:
Bullet Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
Bullet Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS)
 
Your eligibility for any of these grants and loans varies according to the program, its funding source, your enrollment status and your financial need as determined by the college.
