Financial Aid
What kinds of financial aid are available at BMCC?
There are three kinds of financial aid available to BMCC students. These are funded through the federal, state or city governments.
1. Grants - money that does not have to be repaid.
2. Loans - money that you borrow and agree to pay back with interest.
3. Work-Study - money that you earn from a job obtained through the Financial Aid Office.

The following federal grants and loans can help you with both tuition and other school related expenses:
Bullet Federal PELL Grant
Bullet Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
Bullet Federal Work-Study (FWS)
Bullet Federal Perkins Loan
Bullet Federal Direct Loan Program

The following New York State grants for full-time and part-time students can help you pay tuition:
Bullet Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
Bullet Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS)

Your eligibility for any of these grants and loans varies according to the program, its funding source, your enrollment status and your financial need as determined by the college.

Scholarships are grants that are awarded usually on the basis of academic merit. BMCC awards more scholarships than any other CUNY college. Learn more about the various scholarship opportunities at BMCC here.
