How much aid can I receive?
The City University of New York tries to
meet your financial need by putting together a financial
aid package for you. A financial aid package usually covers
an entire academic year and consists of grants
and some type of self-help
aid in the form of loans or work-study. How large a package
you receive will depend upon the degree of your financial
need and the availability of program funds. In general, your
total aid package (including all grant, loan and scholarship
aid) may not exceed your cost
of attendance.
In making an awards package, CUNY proceeds with
the following steps:
 |
first, your eligibility for
TAP
and PELL is determined; |
 |
then, your remaining financial
need is determined based on CUNY's calculation of your
total cost of attendance minus your estimated TAP and
Pell awards; |
 |
finally, CUNY tries to supplement
your TAP and Pell awards with assistance from the following
campus-based
aid programs (subject to availability): FSEOG,
Federal Work-Study or
Federal Perkins Loan. |
If you receive a scholarship
from a public or private source, this adds to your total financial
aid package. You may also attempt
to fill any remaining unmet need with a Federal
Direct Loan. |
