Warren Benfield

Assistant Professor, Social Sciences and Human Services

Warren Benfield received his PhD from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, United Kingdom, in 2006. Before joining the Department of Social Sciences and Human Services at BMCC, Prof. Benfield worked as an adjunct/substitute professor at Medgar Evers College, Kingsborough Community College, and LaGuardia Community College. He has also worked in the Caribbean as a government adviser, consultant and Research Fellow at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.
He is an expert on social and economic development issues in the Caribbean and has published in these areas. Prior to joining CUNY he worked in the Economic Management Unit at the World Bank Country Office in Tanzania where his responsibilities included research on issues of poverty and social protection. His research interests also include living standard measurement, vulnerability, and inequality.
