E-MAIL
  Need a BMCC E-mail Account for Yourself? Or Having Problems with Your E-mail?
Full-time faculty can obtain a BMCC (Lotus Notes) e-mail account by filling out a form available through the HelpDesk. The form must be signed by the departmental chairperson. For any difficulty with your Lotus Notes e-mail account, get in touch with the HelpDesk.

LOANERS
  Need AV Equipment?
The Media Center has in stock a large assortment of AV equipment to lend to faculty for specific professional occasions. For example, the Center loans out computer projectors, VCRs, video cameras, digital cameras, laptops, phonographs and DVD players. Some of the equipment is subject to approval by the Office of Academic Affairs.

Microphones and Music for an Event On Campus that You’re Planning?

The Media Center has equipment for sound reinforcement and music playback, microphones, and podiums available for college events. Please contact the Media Center regarding the approval requirement.

COMPUTERS AND SOFTWARE
  Need Help in Setting Up a Computer Demo in Your Classroom – Either with Stand-alone Software or with the Web?
Portable Windows and Macintosh computers with LCD projectors are available in the Media Center for use in classrooms. The Media Center will also check that your classroom is connected to the college’s "backbone" for Web access.

Both the Faculty/Staff Resource Room (S501a) and the Media Center have scanners for text (OCR) and graphics scanning.

Need to Install Software on Your Office Computer?
Most faculty have "locked desktops" which must be unlocked to install additional software. Information Technology staff will visit your office, evaluate the software, and install it, upon approval.

  Scheduling Computer Labs and Technologically Enhanced Classrooms:

Need to Reserve a Computer Lab for Your Class?
If you wish to reserve a computer lab contact the registrar's office. Ad hoc access to computer labs is provided by public safety. Software requests should be forwarded to the Office of Instructional Technology, S612, x8122, IT@bmcc.cuny.edu.

Need to Reserve a Technologically Enhanced Classroom?

Need to Advise Your Students Where to Access Computers on Campus?
The college maintains open access labs for student use at all BMCC sites. Information regarding location and schedules for these labs is available from the Office of Instructional Technology website www.bmcc.cuny.edu/it
 
VIDEO AND TELEVISION
 

Need to Borrow Video Tapes?
The Library has an extensive collection of video-taped instructional material, including PBS shows, which faculty may borrow to screen in class.

Need to Copy a Videotape, CD or Audio Cassette?
The Media Center can, upon approval, duplicate all major videotape formats as well as audiocassettes and CD-ROMS, and convert tapes from the formats used in Europe, Africa and Asia. The Center can also send a TV program to most classrooms at 199 Chambers Street.

Want to Teleconference with Another College?
The Media Center operates teleconferencing facilities available to faculty. Subject to approval by the Office of Academic Affairs.

Need a Satellite Downlink to View a Teleconference?
The Media Center can downlink programs from most satellites at no charge other than the licensing fee, as well as originating programs for uplink. Subject to approval by the Office of Academic Affairs.

The Media Center operates the BMCC Information Channel. Posting is subject to approval by the appropriate vice president or dean.

  Need Help in Creating a Video Production, a Sound Recording, a PowerPoint Presentation or a CD-ROM?
The Media Center has a complete inventory of equipment as well as staffing to support, upon approval, your media and multimedia production needs. They also help you edit a video or create graphics.

The Learning Resource Center offers one-hour workshops covering such topics as Introduction to Netscape, Web Searching, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Also, the Library offers one-hour information literacy workshops throughout the semester upon request.
